2012 Submission Categories
Books in any of the following fields are eligible for consideration:
- Philosophy and Jewish Thought
- Modern Jewish History—Americas, Africa, Asia, and Oceania
- Cultural Studies and Media Studies
Eligibility Requirements
Only AJS members in good standing may submit their books for consideration or have their books submitted by a third party (publisher, etc.). Any book published in English from 2009-2012 is eligible for consideration. A book may be submitted up to two times within a three-year cycle. Scholars at all stages of their careers are eligible to apply. Translations, edited works, and reference works are eligible for submission, as long as the book’s translator/editor meets the submission requirements (AJS member, book published within past four years, etc). A committee of scholars who represent excellence in the year's designated fields will serve as judges. Scholars may submit their book to more than one category, but no book may be awarded the prize in more than one category, whether in the same year or in any subsequent year.
Submission Materials
Submissions must include the following:
1) Four copies of the application cover sheet (click here for sheet).
2) Four copies of the book.
3) Four copies of author’s c.v.

Submission materials should reach the AJS office no later than Monday, July 9, 2012. Please mail to:

Awards will be announced in the fall of 2012, and will be formally presented at a reception at the 44th Annual Conference, December 16-18 at the Sheraton Chicago in Chicago, IL. |
