Program Description:
The Jewish Studies program at Georgia State University offers a Minor in Interdisciplinary Studies (M.I.S.). The minor, which includes a introductory pro-seminar plus four other courses, is designed to introduce students to the full range of Jewish experience, emphasizing Jews' encounter with the modern world. The program is interdisciplinary in method and global in scope, combining insights from history, sociology, Hebrew language, Israeli and Yiddish literatures in translation, American Jewish cultural studies, religious studies, political science, and women's studies. Students grapple with particular developments, both in reference to the larger patterns of Jewish history and in comparison with the analogous experiences of other groups.
