lineProject Narrative (4 pages maximum, single-spaced)

In narrative form, please provide the following information:

a. a brief overview of your institution’s Jewish studies program, including when established; number and specialization of affiliated faculty; and certifications/degrees offered, if any. If your institution does not have a Jewish studies program, please discuss plans to develop one.

b. campus resources for public programs. Please specify faculty to participate in programs, and if there are other programs/departments/organizations on campus to cooperate with and course(s) to coordinate with.

c. need for this program in the wider community (i.e., outside of the college/university). Who is the potential audience for events?  Please note examples of past programming and audience, possible outside organizations to collaborate with, and any competition (Jewish cultural/educational programming currently being offered in the larger community). Please explain how this grant will enhance, not duplicate, current offerings.

d. how this project fits into your institution’s Jewish studies program goals, i.e. how would a series of public events relate to your program mission and long-term objectives? If your institution does not currently have a Jewish studies program, please explain how this project fits into your program development goals.

e. project staffing. What experience does the lead applicant have in public programming?  Who will help to administer the program (there is funding for administrative support)?

f. marketing plan. Please explain how you will publicize events -- to whom, through what media?

lineProposed Schedule of Events (2 pages maximum)
Please provide a provisional outline of events, with as much detail as possible (names and affiliations of each participant--including thumbnail bios and speaking fees, topics and format of presentation, possible venues and schedule). Please also include a description of overall theme for the year of presentations. Applicants should contact major speakers to determine feasibility and budget for their participation.

lineProposed Budget (1-2 pages)
Please provide a preliminary itemized budget with an accompanying narrative. Note all expense lines and amounts, with as much precision as possible. Please also explain any additional resources the Jewish studies program has to support this project, outside of LHJSP funding (e.g., college/university resources, etc.). What is your annual program budget for the 2011-12 academic year? Approximately how much of your budget can be allocated to public programming?
