I. Conference Registration Fees

Advanced conference registration rates for the 40th Annual AJS Conference are:

Regular/Associate Member: $100.00
Student Member: $50.00
Non-Member: $140.00

Please note:

  • Joint members must register separately if each member wishes to attend conference sessions and visit the book exhibit.
  • No refunds will be issued for cancellations after November 14, 2008. All refunds will be charged a $10.00 USD processing fee (with the exception of refunds requested by those whose papers were not accepted).
  • Confirmation of registration, including name badges, will be sent after December 1, 2008 to those who pre-registered by November 14.
  • Conference badges must be worn for admission to all conference sessions and the book exhibit.
  • Special reduced rates will be made available to local Jewish educators, Jewish organizational professionals, synagogue staff, and retired persons. Detailed information forthcoming.

II. Hotel Accommodations
The AJS is pleased to announce that the Grand Hyatt Washington, located at 1000 H Street, NW, Washington, D.C.  20001, has extended the AJS a rate of $139.00 per room, single and double occupancy, with a limited number of rooms for students at $129.00. Reservations can be made by calling the Grand Hyatt reservations line (1-800-233-1234) or by going to the AJS's reservations page. Please ask for the Association for Jewish Studies rate.

III. Meal Prices and Reservations
Kosher meals will be catered by the Grand Hyatt Washington. We look forward to having many attendees dining together throughout the conference.  All meal reservations, including payment, are due by November 14, 2008.  We cannot accept meal requests after this date. No refunds for meal reservations will be issued after November 14, 2008.

IV. Childcare
The Parents Childcare Co-op will be organizing affordable childcare during conference meeting hours. This program is sponsored by the Center for Cultural Judaism. Pre-registration required. V. Sephardi/Mizrahi Caucus Lunch
The Sephardi/Mizrahi Caucus Lunch will take place Monday, December 22, 2008.  The cost is $35.00.  Paid reservations must be made online by November 14, 2008. For further information, please contact Professor Norman Stillman at nstillman@ou.edu.

VI. AJS Women’s Caucus Breakfast
The AJS Women’s Caucus Breakfast, open to members of the AJS Women’s Caucus, will be held Monday, December 22, 2008 from 7:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.  The deadline for pre-registration for the Breakfast is November 14, 2008.  You may make a breakfast reservation and renew your Women's Caucus membership online. If you prefer, you may also renew your Women's Caucus membership by mailing the Women’s Caucus Membership Form and membership dues ($20.00 faculty, $10.00 student) to: Andrea Lieber, Department of Religion, Dickinson College, P.O.
