I.General Information

The AJS's 45th Annual Meeting will be held December 15-17, 2013 at the Sheraton Boston, in Boston, MA. The AJS expects 1000 attendees at the upcoming meeting, and conference attendees span the disciplines, from professors of religion, philosophy, and literature, to historians, Hebrew and Yiddish teachers, and sociologists. The diverse and interdisciplinary mix of attendees makes the conference an ideal place to promote books, journals, films, and other materials for classroom adoption and library purchase, as well as fellowships, grants, and job opportunities.

There are three easy ways to reach our conference attendees and general membership: through exhibiting, advertising in our program book, or one of a great range of conference sponsorships.

The deadline for receipt of advertising reservations and copy, exhibit space reservations, and tote bag insert reservations has been extended to October 11, 2013. All reservations must be accompanied by full payment. Exhibit booth location will be determined by the order in which complete reservations (including payment) are received. Below please find general information, the reservation form, and a list of advertisers and exhibitors from the 2012 Conference. II.Advertising in Program Book

The AJS Program Book is distributed free to conference attendees and all AJS members– more than 1800 scholars and students in the field of Jewish Studies. The program book includes details of conference sessions, maps of the hotel, and announcements about special AJS grants and events, making it a constant resource to AJS members not only at the annual meeting but throughout the year. AJS members use the advertising section in the program book for current information on publications in their areas of interest as well as programs and grants for which they may be eligible. Conference attendees also use the program book advertising section to create a shopping list for the book exhibit.

Ad Specifications:

The Program Book Page Size is 6” by 9”. Program Book ads should be submitted at size (full-page: 4½" by 7"; half-page: 4½" by 3½") in grayscale PDF format. Under options for the pdf’s resolution, the setting should be 300dpi for black and white images and 1200dpi for monochrome images. Embed all fonts and subset fonts below 100%. Please e-mail the electronic copy of your ad as an attachment to conference@ajs.cjh.org. Contents of advertisements are subject to approval by the Association for Jewish Studies.

III. Exhibiting at AJS Conference

  • Exhibitors will have prime presentation space in the Sheraton Boston Ballroom, as well as a listing in the Conference Program Book and the Fall 2013 issue of AJS Perspectives, and the AJS Website.
  • The exhibit hall is open throughout the conference, and will include seating areas for attendees to meet and socialize. Events held in the exhibit hall, including the opening night reception, will promote foot traffic throughout.

Set up/Breakdown (subject to modification)

Set up: Sunday, December 15, 2013, 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM
Breakdown: Tuesday, December 17, 2013, 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM

Reservations can be made for one to four tables in either an 8' x 10' OR 8' x 20' exhibit space. 

Exhibitors who wish to reserve more than four tables, please contact the AJS. Please note that there will be no additional tables to rent at the show-site, so exhibitors should reserve by the deadline the number of tables they will need.

Included in each exhibit reservation:

  • 8' by 10' booth space with 8’ high backdrop and 3’ high siderails
  • One draped 6’ x 30” table and two chairs.
  • A carpeted exhibit hall
  • A company ID sign

Deadline for Reservations: extended to October 11, 2013

All reservations must be accompanied by full payment. Exhibit booth location will be determined by the order in which complete reservations, including payment, are received. Before submitting an exhibits registration form, all new exhibitors are required to send information to the AJS (conference@ajs.cjh.org) about their company/organization and the material they plan to exhibit.

IV.Additional Equipment /Internet Access

Electrical outlets, internet access, and telephone access can be arranged, for an additional fee, through the Sheraton Boston. Information regarding these services will be available in the fall. Please contact the AJS office in the meanwhile if you have any questions.

VI. Tote Bag Inserts

Put an announcement about your company’s new publication, your organization’s new program, or your exhibit booth’s special offerings in the official AJS 45th Annual Conference Tote Bag. This is an ideal way to directly market to students, scholars, and professors of Jewish studies.

The production of inserts is the advertiser’s responsibility. Contents of inserts are subject to approval by the Association for Jewish Studies.

The tote bag insert fee is $465; additional fees may apply if shipping more than five boxes of material.

Reservations for tote bag inserts are due by October 11, 2013.

Inserts must be submitted to the AJS for approval by November 15, 2013.

Inserts must be shipped to the conference hotel and received no later than Thursday, December 12, 2013. Complete shipping information will be sent in the Fall.
