I. General Information

The AJS 46th Annual Conference will be held December 14-16, 2014 at the Hilton Baltimore. The AJS expects more than 1100 attendees at the upcoming meeting, the largest annual gathering of Jewish Studies scholars worldwide. Participants span the disciplines, from professors of religion, philosophy, and literature, to historians, Hebrew and Yiddish teachers, and sociologists. The diverse and interdisciplinary mix of attendees makes the conference an ideal place to promote books, journals, films, and other materials for classroom adoption and library purchase, as well as fellowships, grants, and job opportunities.

There are three easy ways to reach AJS Conference attendees and general membership: exhibiting, advertising in the meeting Program Book, or sponsoring a special event or item.

All reservations must be accompanied by full payment. Exhibit booth location will be determined by the order in which complete reservations (including payment) are received. Below please find general information, the reservation form, and a list of advertisers and exhibitors from the 2012 and 2013 Conferences. II. Exhibiting at AJS Conference

  • Exhibitors will have prime presentation space in the Hilton Baltimore Key Ballroom, as well as a listing in the Conference Program Book, the Fall 2014 issue of AJS Perspectives, and the AJS website.
  • The exhibit hall is open during the entire conference and will include seating areas for attendees to meet and socialize. Events held in the exhibit area, including the opening night reception and coffee breaks, will promote foot traffic throughout the hall.

Reservations can be made for one to four tables in either an 8' x 10' OR 8' x 20' exhibit space. Contact Laura Greene if you wish to reserve additional tables for your booth.

Included in each exhibit space:

  • 8' by 10' booth space with 8' high backdrop and 3' high siderails
  • Two chairs and draped 6' x 30" table(s) as shown below
  • Carpeted exhibit hall
  • Company ID sign

All reservations must be accompanied by full payment. Exhibit booth location will be determined by the order in which complete reservations, including payment, are received. Before submitting an exhibit reservation form, all new exhibitors are required to send information to Lgreene@ajs.cjh.org about their company/organization and the material they plan to exhibit.

Additional Equipment/Internet Access/Shipping Information:

Electrical outlets, internet access, and telephone access can be arranged, for an additional fee, through the Hilton Baltimore. Information regarding these services will be available in the fall. Complete details on exhibitor services, as well as order forms, will be included in your Exhibitor Service Manual.

III. Advertising in Program Book

The AJS Program Book is distributed free to all conference attendees and is available on our website to all AJS members—more than 1800 scholars and students in the field of Jewish Studies. The Program Book includes details of conference sessions, maps of the hotel, and announcements about special AJS grants and events, making it a constant resource to AJS members not only at the annual meeting but throughout the year. AJS members use the advertising section in the Program Book for current information on publications in their areas of interest as well as programs and grants for which they may be eligible. Conference attendees also use the Program Book advertising section to create a shopping list for the book exhibit.

AJS Institutional Members qualify for a 15% discount on their Program Book ad.

Ad Specifications:

The Program Book page size is 6" by 9". Program Book ads should be submitted at size (full-page: 4½" by 7"; half-page: 4½" by 3½") in grayscale .pdf (Adobe Acrobat) format. Under options for pdf resolution, the setting should be 300dpi for black and white images and 1200dpi for monochrome images. Embed all fonts and subset fonts below 100%. Please email the electronic copy of your ad as an attachment to Lgreene@ajs.cjh.org. Contents of advertisements are subject to approval by the Association for Jewish Studies.

IV. Tote Bag Inserts

Put an announcement about your company's new publication, your organization's new program, or your exhibit booth's special offerings in the official AJS 46th Annual Conference Tote Bag. These attractive totes are distributed to all conference registrants. This is an ideal way to directly market to students, scholars, and teachers of Jewish Studies.

The production of inserts is the advertiser's responsibility. Contents of inserts are subject to approval by the Association for Jewish Studies.

The tote bag single-page insert fee is $465; additional fees may apply if shipping more than five boxes of material or if the insert has multiple pages.

VI. Gala Banquet and Plenary Lecture Sponsorships

Sponsorship of our Annual Gala Banquet and Plenary Lecture, to be held Sunday evening, December 14, is an ideal way to support the AJS and promote your institution. This is the one conference event that brings together several hundred AJS members for a gourmet meal, plenary, and discussion.

The banquet and plenary play a vital role in building the sense of community so important to the AJS. The evening provides the opportunity for the spontaneous discussions and networking opportunities that occur outside of formal sessions, and for our diverse membership to join in conversation about issues in the field of Jewish Studies. More than 400 members attend the banquet each year, and the feedback we receive is unanimously enthusiastic. Sponsorship, which will be prominently acknowledged, is also an outstanding way of showcasing your Jewish Studies program and institution to an international audience.

Sponsorships range from $1000 to $5000 and come with outstanding benefits at Silver, Gold or Platinum levels. Since 2005, Jewish Studies programs and cultural institutions have contributed on average more than $20,000 annually to support the Gala Banquet and Plenary Lecture, allowing the AJS to reduce banquet ticket prices by half.
